Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock was behind the bench to lead Canada to a second straight gold medal at the Sochi Olympics. Boyd Gordon Jersey . He wont have to face the goaltender he rode to that honour when the Red Wings take on the Montreal Canadiens as Carey Price will not be in uniform for the next two games. The game can be seen live on TSN at 7:30pm et/4:30pm pt. Price was hurt at the start of Wednesdays practice after facing just one shot as the team worked on their power play. He left the ice in discomfort and appeared to be favouring his leg. During the Olympics, the Canadiens starting goaltender posted consecutive shutouts for Canada in the semifinals and gold medal game and ended the Olympic tournament with a 5-0 record, a 0.59 goals against average and .972 save percentage. Montreal enters Tuesday hoping to pick up where it left off. The Canadiens won their last three games before the Olympics and went 5-1-1 over their seven final outings prior to the break. The Habs are sitting one point behind Tampa Bay for second place in the Atlantic and eight in back of Boston for the division lead. The Canadiens also are locked in a tie with rival Toronto in both the Atlantic and East standings. The Canadiens will get forward Alex Galchenyuk back in the lineup on Wednesday for the first time since Jan. 6 when he broke his hand in a game against Florida. The sophomore has 10 goals and 13 assists in 44 games this season. The Red Wings posted a 4-1 home win over Montreal on Jan. 24 in the first of four regular-season meetings between the clubs this season. It was the third win for Detroit over the last four games of this series. but the Red Wings head coach is now faced with the unenviable task of getting Detroit back to the playoffs for a 23rd straight season. Babcocks Red Wings hope to aid their postseason quest on Wednesday, when they return from the NHLs Olympic break to visit the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre. Detroit would be in the playoffs if the season ended right now, but the club is only one point ahead of a three teams -- Columbus, Ottawa and Washington -- for the Eastern Conferences final berth. While Babcock was coaching Canada to gold, the captain of his NHL team -- Henrik Zetterberg -- was recovering from recent back surgery. Zetterberg suited up for Team Sweden once in Sochi before returning to the United States to have a procedure that removed what Red Wings general manager Ken Holland called a "floating piece of a disk lodged in a nerve in his back." After undergoing the surgery on Friday, Zetterberg, who is leading Detroit in goals (16) and assists (32) this season, is expected to be out of action for 7-to-8 weeks. Zetterbergs absence could make it difficult for the Red Wings to keep their amazing postseason appearance streak going, but the club is still eager to get back to the task at hand. After visiting Montreal, which is six points ahead of Detroit in the Atlantic Division and East standings, the Red Wings will make a stop to battle the playoff-hopeful Senators on Thursday. "Two of the biggest games of the year by far. Were chasing Montreal and Ottawa is chasing us," said Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey. "So theres nothing like having 20-odd days off and coming back and playing huge games. We know the playoffs are going to come down to one or two points, so easily it could come down to these two games. We know that going in and that?s why were so focused on getting ready for them." Wednesdays game marks the continuation of a five-game road trip that began before the Olympics. Detroit, which is 15-9-4 as the guest this season compared to a poor 11-11-8 mark at home, split road games against Florida and Tampa Bay before the NHL went on hiatus. Following Thursdays showdown with the Senators, the Red Wings will have four full days of rest before capping their swing next Tuesday at New Jersey. Paul Coffey Jersey . Mika Zibanejad and Jason Spezza scored in the shootout to lead the Ottawa Senators to a 2-1 victory over Nashville on Saturday night. Connor McDavid Jersey . The Missouri Tigers Defensive End and SEC Defensive player of the year is eligible for the upcoming NFL draft in May. http://www.officialoilersfanstore.com/authentic-leon-draisaitl-oilers-jersey/ . Many of those eyes are in the United States of America, a country that the sport has wanted on its side for some time. On Sunday the football Gods delivered once again, only this time it was time for good old USA to experience as much heartache as joy.PITTSBURGH -- The Philadelphia Flyers appear to have recovered from a rough start to the season, while the intrastate rival Pittsburgh Penguins seem to be coming back to the rest of the pack after their strong start. Brayden Schenn scored two goals and backup goalie Ray Emery stopped 30 shots to lead the Flyers in a 2-1 victory over the Penguins on Wednesday night for their third straight victory. "Obviously, were working on trying to put some wins together right now and playing pretty sound defensive hockey," Schenn said. "Were waiting for our opportunities to score and right now were scoring when theyre there, so we have to keep it going." Schenn, who had a goal and an assist during Philadelphias 5-0 win against Ottawa the previous night, opened the scoring late in the first period and got the tiebreaker late in the second. Emery got the start one night after Steve Mason shut out the Senators. "The last couple weeks, the boys score more goals," Emery said. "We had a great night in Ottawa, had a tough-back-to-back against one of our rivals and a really good team in Pittsburgh, so theyre all steps in the right direction." Penguins captain Sidney Crosby scored his ninth goal of the season, and first in eight games. Marc-Andre Fleury made 19 saves for Pittsburgh, which has lost three straight for the second time this season. "Its never easy losing," Crosby said. "When you get the chances you feel like you deserve better, but we still didnt get the result we wanted." Pittsburgh came into the game with four straight wins against its intrastate rival and victories in six of the last eight meetings. However, the Flyers, 9-2-1 at Consol Energy Center since the arena opened, led by a goal after two periods. Philadelphia then shut down the high-flying Penguins in the third as Pittsburgh generated few opportunities in the final 20 minutes, appeared sluggish during a power-play opportunity, and used its timeout to regroup early in the period. "I like the fact that we grinded the win out," Flyers head coach Craig Berube said. "We played the night before and did a lot of the little things right tonight." After a horrid 1-7 start which contributed to the firing of former coach Peter Laviolette, the Flyers have gone 6-3-1 in their last 10 games, earning points in five of their last six contests. Philadelphia scored first in all seven wins and lost in all seven games in which it has allowed the first goal. Philadelphia is currently on a three-game road swing, coming off a dominating 5-0 victory at Ottawa 24 hours earlier. The Flyers have scored 11 goals in three games after getting 22 in their first 15, the fewest for any team during that stretch since 1956. &quoot;I think as a team were gaining more confidence and really getting into it," Emery said. Mark Fayne Jersey. The Penguins, one point ahead of Washington for the top spot in the division, were off since a 2-1 loss Saturday at St. Louis and hadnt played at home in 11 days. Pittsburgh, despite a wealth of talent, has experienced trouble scoring recently, totalling just three goals in the three-game skid. The Penguins are 11-2 when they score three or more goals and 0-4 when they score fewer than three. "Were not doing enough around the net and in those areas to get the goals," Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said. "We had opportunities, but we were not able to get in their end and finish." Crosby has just three goals in 11 games, while Evgeni Malkin hasnt scored in his last 11 and Pascal Dupuis, a 20-goal scorer last season, has gone 12 games without a goal. "I think the chances are there, we just have to put them in," Dupuis said. "Its definitely not a fun time, but you just have to find ways to score." Chris Kunitz thought he staked the Penguins to a 1-0 lead 19 seconds into the game, but the goal was disallowed after it was determined there was a distinct kicking motion when the rebound from his initial backhand shot ricocheted off his shin guards. "I thought he kind of (kicked it), but he was stopping, so you never know," Emery said. "Its a good break." That break allowed the Flyers got the games first tally with 3:58 left in the first period, when Schenn, who has four goals in six games, took a left-corner feed from Wayne Simmonds and wristed a shot over Fleurys glove hand from the faceoff dot. The Penguins got it back on the power play midway through the second period, tying the game at 8:29 when Crosby one-touched Malkins centring pass from the right-wing boards over Emerys blocker. Philadelphia reclaimed the lead with a power-play goal of its own with 1:20 to go in the period. Jakub Voraceks initial shot from the point deflected off several players in front and bounced off the post. Schenn found the rebound in front of the net, and tapped his second of the game into a partially open net, giving the Flyers the lead for good. "Were winning right now and it was a good win," Berube said. "We didnt get off to a great start, but our goalie was really good and gave us a chance to win and get our feet under us." NOTES: Penguins D Paul Martin missed his second straight game with a lower-body injury. Dustin Jeffrey and Jayson Megna were also out for the Penguins. ... D Hal Gill, D Andrej Meszaros, and LW Michael Raffl sat for Philadelphia. ... The two rivals do not play again until a home-and-home set March 15-16. ' ' '
